Sharon McNichols, LAc

Sharon McNichols is honored to be a part of each person’s healing process.  She brings to her practice a gentle, caring approach with good listening skills and an empathetic heart.  She has a strong desire to work together with her patients to cultivate healthy, balanced lives.

Growing up, she always had the desire to live naturally.  She made it her life goal to eat well, get plenty of exercise and be environmentally conscious.  On her path of life she has always been drawn to helping people, whether it be children or adults.

This led Sharon to study psychology at St. Mary’s College, in Winona, Minnesota, and early childhood education at Utah State University. After completing these degrees, she taught kindergarten and first grade for nine years in Utah.  

She became interested in acupuncture through her struggle with asthma.  She sought acupuncture for relief. The healing power of acupuncture and Chinese herbs had a profound effect on her life.  With acupuncture, she was able to be free of the symptoms of asthma. 

She became very enthralled with acupuncture and read everything she could get her hands on.  Sharon decided to study acupuncture in Portland, OR, at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.  She completed her studies in 1993 and became licensed through the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners and certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. (NCCAOM).  Since graduating, she has maintained her practice in Beaverton, OR. For about 10 years she supervised third year acupuncture students while they were treating patients at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

Through her personal experiences and those of her patients, she sees that acupuncture can be transformative and the results long lasting.  Acupuncture works on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels of the body, and can help shift deep-rooted patterns and bring health into balance.
